Funded businesses need more than compliance. You need investor-grade reporting, real cash visibility, and a finance function that can keep up with the pace. We build and run that function - whether you’re post-seed, scaling on revenue, or post-exit and deploying your own capital.
YOU’RE PROBABLY DEALING WITH...
• Investors asking for things you don’t currently produce
• A runway model that doesn’t match your actual burn
• Month-end close that takes too long and arrives too late
• A finance function that was fine at seed but is creaking now
• Board packs cobbled together the night before
• A messy function post-funding, post-hire, or post-senior-exit that needs cleaning up
WHAT WORKING WITH US LOOKS LIKE
We embed into your business as your finance function - either alongside an in-house team, a fractional CFO, or as the whole thing. We run month-end properly, produce board-grade management information, manage cash and runway, and handle the compliance layer in the background.
When you need a finance transformation project - a systems migration, a close cleanup, a reporting rebuild - we scope it and deliver it. When you need fractional senior finance in the room for a board or an investor conversation, we can be that too.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
➕ Investor-grade monthly reporting - the pack your board actually wants to see
➕ Cash and runway visibility - a model that matches reality, updated properly
➕ A close process for your pace - from rapid flash numbers to full monthly packs
➕ A finance function that scales - systems, controls, processes that hold up as you grow
➕ Transformation when you need it - function cleanup, systems migration, reporting rebuild
➕ Senior finance in the room - for board meetings, investor calls, and the conversations that move the business
WHAT THIS CAN LOOK LIKE
An illustrative example of how we work with funded businesses.
A seed-stage B2B SaaS business has raised £1.5m, grown to £900k ARR, and is preparing for a Series A conversation. The founder is running the numbers himself in spreadsheets, the bookkeeping is six weeks behind, and the last board pack had been built in panic the night before of the meeting. His lead investor had started asking sharper questions about unit economics and runway.
We come in, clean the function over six weeks, migrate them to a proper close process, and built out a board pack covering financial performance, SaaS metrics, runway scenarios, and commentary. By the time the Series A conversation comes round, the founder walks into it with a pack the investors are genuinely impressed by - and crucially, numbers he trusts.
ABOUT DAVID
Before founding Carr Accounting Studio, David ran a funded software business and worked inside fintech and big-four accounting. He understands funded businesses from the inside - the investor dynamics, the operational realities, and what separates a finance function that supports a scaling business from one that holds it back.
